WaterGenie ULP Membrane & Housing Package
Includes WG-ULP 4040 RO Membrane, Stainless Steel Housing and all fittings.
This system will produce approx. 25L In 10 Mins at 55PSI.
There is an option for a DIY package where you can assemble the membrane yourself.
There is also an option for us to install the membrane into the housing for you.
Top FAQs
1. What does “RO” mean?
“RO” stands for Reverse Osmosis, a water purification method where water is forced through a semi-permeable membrane to remove dissolved solids, minerals and many contaminants.
2. Why choose a 40″ membrane?
A 40″ (often listed as 4040) membrane has a high surface area, giving greater water output than smaller membranes — ideal where you need substantial quantities of purified water quickly.
3. Do I still need DI resin?
Yes — RO removes most dissolved solids, but for very pure (low-TDS) water (e.g., streak-free cleaning), a downstream DI polishing stage with resin is usually added. This package focuses on the RO part; DI vessels/resin are typically added separately.
4. What pre-filters do I need?
It’s best to have pre-filters before the membrane — usually a sediment filter and carbon filter — to protect the membrane from clogging and chlorine damage. These are often included in full system bundles but may not be part of this specific membrane/housing package.
5. Can I install it myself?
Yes — with basic plumbing skills, you can integrate the membrane housing into an existing RO setup, attaching pre-filters, waste line and pure water line with appropriate hose and fittings.
6. Is a tank needed?
This static system produces RO water on demand, but storage tanks (or containers/jerry cans) are often used to hold purified water for use when the system is idle.
7. What feed pressure does it need?
RO systems perform best with higher feed pressure (e.g., around 60–80 psi). If your mains pressure is low, a booster pump can significantly improve production rate.
8. Does it include a DI stage?
Not typically as part of the membrane/housing package — DI (deionisation) is a separate stage that’s often added after the RO membrane to reduce TDS further.
9. What applications is this suitable for?
Commonly used for:
-
Window cleaning (water-fed pole)
-
Filling pure water tanks (van/garage)
-
Detailing and rinsing applications
-
Aquarium and specialty water uses.
10. How often do components need replacing?
-
Pre-filters: ~6–12 months (depends on water quality).
-
RO membrane: ~1.5–3 years (depending on feed quality and care).
-
DI resin (if used): varies with volume and hardness — monitor with a TDS meter. (General RO/DI practice)
